TRS MLA Nomula Narsimhaiah Passes Away

TRS MLA Nomula Narsimhaiah, 64, today passed away after a prolonged illness.
Hyderabad | 1st December 2020
TRS MLA from Nalgonda district's Nagarjunasagar, Nomula Narsimhaiah, died early this morning of a cardiac arrest at the Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad.

He was 64.

His health had been deteriorating for some time now, and was worsened by post-Covid-19 complications.

Before entering politics in the 1980s, Narsimhaiah had practised as an advocate in the Nakrekal and Nalgonda courts. He was interested in politics right from his days as a student - he was a student leader - and continued to pursue them in his professional life, resulting in his being elected twice as Mandal Parishath President of Nakrekal, and later rising to become an MLA for the same place, winning on Communist Party of India (Marxist) tickets in 1999 and 2004.

He joined the TRS in 2013, and was an active part of the Telangana movement alongside Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He lost the 2014 Assembly election on a TRS ticket for the Nagarjunasagar constituency, but fought again for the same seat in 2018, and prevailed this time over veteran Congress leader K Jana Reddy.

The deceased MLA is survived by wife, a son and two daughters.

The last rites of the MLA will be conducted at Halia near Nagarjunasagar.

CM KCR expressed shock over the MLA's untimely demise.

Praising him as a leader who would be remembered for dedicating his life to the service of the people of his state, Rao said that the death was a loss not only to his family, but to the TRS and to the people of his constituency as well.

The CM conveyed his condolences to members of the bereaved family.

Many other leaders in the state, including TRS leaders K T Rama Rao, Jagadish Reddy and T Srinivas Yadav, and TPCC leader N Uttam Kumar Reddy, also expressed their grief at Narsimhaiah's demise.
