Sabitha Reddy's Son Resigns From Congress
Karthik Reddy was peeved at the decision of the Congress to allocate the Rajendranagar Assembly constituency to grand alliance partner TDP instead of to him.
Peeved at the decision of the Congress high command to allocate the Rajendranagar Assembly constituency to grand alliance partner TDP instead of fielding him from the seat, senior Congress leader P Karthik Reddy on Thursday announced that he was resigning from the party.
Reddy is the son of former home minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy.
Karthik Reddy sent his resignation letter to Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy. He however said that he would rethink his decision if the party gave him the B-form and allowed him to contest from the seat, and fixed a deadline of November 19 2018 for the party leadership to revert on that.
"I am resigning from the party as I was hurt by its decision. If the party high command wants to give me the ticket then it should not accept my resignation. If the party does not want to give me the ticket, then it should accept my resignation. It has time till November 19, 2018, to decide. I will contest the upcoming elections as an independent candidate for the same seat if I do not get the party ticket," he said amid claps from his supporters and followers.
Reddy announced his decision after holding a meeting with his supporters and followers in the city. Several other Congress leaders also tendered their resignations along with Reddy on the occasion.
Reddy also levelled serious allegations against Telangana TDP president L Ramana and alleged that he was selling off the party tickets in Telangana.
