Former Health Minister C Laxma Reddy today said that a section of the media had distorted his comments regarding the provision of welfare schemes in Telangana, to simply stir up a controversy.
Reddy had reportedly urged the TRS government to discontinue its welfare schemes and round-the-clock power supply till the next election in the state, claiming that no matter what sops and benefits were offered to them, the people would always remain ungrateful.
However, speaking after distributing cheques to several beneficiaries of the Kalyana Lakshmi and the Shaadi Mubarak schemes, he denied having made any such comments against the government schemes.
The former minister clarified that he had never said anything against the schemes themselves, and had only asked for the stalling of the welfare schemes for some time as the beneficiaries did not seem to be "supporting" or "understanding" the ruling party.
"The people are forgetting the schemes that the TRS has implemented for their welfare, and are not supporting the party as they should," he said.
