Former Andhra Pradesh minister K Acchannaidu got conditional bail from the High Court of the state today in a case related to sensational multi-crore ESI scam.
The HC asked Naidu to furnish a Rs 2 lakh surety besides asking him to not leave the country without its permission.
It also asked him to not influence the witnesses in the case, and to cooperate with the investigation officer.
Acchannaidu is currently undergoing treatment at the Mangalagiri NRI Hospital after contracting Covid-19. The counsel for the ex-minister had urged the court to grant bail to him earlier on grounds of ill-health, and it was rejected by the court. Following this the counsel moved the court again on the issue. Supreme Court advocate Siddarth Lutra and senior advocate Venkateswarlu argued the case before the HC three days back. The court had reserved its judgement at that time, saying that it would deliver it on Friday.
