Telangana TDP working president A Revanth Reddy, who is all set to join the Congress next month, is facing a revolt in his Mahabubnagar district as some of the district TDP leaders and his followers have joined the ruling TRS.
Some TDP leaders and workers of the Kodangal Assembly constituency, which is represented by Reddy, joined the TRS at Pragathi Bhavan, where the CM operates from.
These included Revanth Reddy's strong supporter and ZPTC member Balsingh Naik, MPP Sangita Shivkumar, mandal party resident Shivraj and Viresh Goud. They were all welcomed into the party at Pragathi Bhavan by TRS ministers Etela Rajender, Jupally Krishna Rao and Laxma Reddy.
The erstwhile TDP leaders said that they were shifting as the TDP was blocking the progress of Telangana, and stealing water from the Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar reservoirs.
In another setback for Revanth Reddy, Mahabubnagar district TDP president Erra Shekhar said that there was no question of toeing the line of Reddy, and that the TDP workers or leaders of the district did not feel any need to quit the party.
