Former MLA of the Husnabad Assembly constituency Aligireddy Praveen Reddy joined the Congress today from the TRS.
Veteran party leader Mallikarjuna Kharge welcomed him into the party in the presence of TPCC chief Revanth Reddy and former minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir, in New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Revanth Reddy said that the joining of Praveen Reddy would strengthen the party in the Husnabad Assembly constituency.
He said that there was a need for the Telangana society to join the Congress for the development of the State.
Targeting Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, he alleged that the CM was working on making an entry into national politics instead of taking steps to provide relief to the flood victims of the State.
He alleged that the Chief Minister was also "doing time pass" and trying distractions by making political allegations against his rivals and unnamed foreign players while the people of the State were suffering from the recent floods.
Referring specifically to the cloudburst comments of KCR, Revanth Reddy termed them as quite irresponsible, and said that KCR had made them only to divert the attention of the people from the failure of the government in managing the floods.
Reddy also demanded that the State government announce an ex gratia of Rs. 1 crore to the family members of those who had died in the recent floods.
