Legislative Assembly speaker Nadendla Manohar, on Saturday, said that he would submit a report on AP's fluoride problem within a week, and also recommend an action plan to tackle the menace on a priority basis.
Talking to media persons after visiting fluoride-affected villages in Nampally mandal of Nalgonda district, Nadendla Manohar said that the 15-member study team of legislators visited villages afflicted with the flouride problem in order to provide a moral boost to the victims there.
He said that he was personally collecting first-hand information from the people affected, in the wake of allegations against the state government, of the non-implementation of welfare programs them.
As part of his visit, the speaker also visited the medical centre in Mustivalli in Nampally mandal, and enquired about the medical assistance there, of the victims directly.
Meanwhile, several women at Puttagandi greeted the speaker's study team by staging a dharna with empty pots. They alleged that the government has totally failed to provide water from the Krishna river to fluoride-hit villages in Nalgonda district.
The women appealed to the Speaker to direct the government to address the fluoride water problem in the district permanently. (INN)
