The 6-day-long first session of the Telangana State Legislative Assembly came to an end on Saturday with Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary adjourning the House sine die.
The session, which started on June 9, began with the oath-taking ceremony of the new members of the House. The next day, Madhusudhana Chary was elected as the first Speaker of the Telangana Assembly.
On June 11, Governor E S L Narasimhan addressed a joint session of the Telangana Assembly and Council. The debate on the Motion of Thanks following the Governor's address began on June 12 after the unanimous election of the Medak MLA M Padma Devender Reddy as the Deputy Speaker.
After debating for 2 days till June 13, the Assembly took up as many as 12 different resolutions on the last day. As expected, the first session was neither too stormy nor too hectic. (INN)
