YSR Congress Party honorary president Y S Vijayamma, on Saturday, accused the state government of planning to dilute the fee reimbursement scheme introduced by the former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Talking to media persons, Vijayamma alleged that the government was planning to dilute the reimbursement scheme after the Supreme Court's verdict, and fixing a uniform fee for both convener and management quota seats.
She said that the Supreme Court's verdict would put additional burden on the government, to the tune of Rs. 500 crore.
She alleged that the government wants to dilute the scheme in order to transfer this burden to citizens.
Vijayamma said that in protest against the government's move, she would stage a 2-day hunger strike in Eluru in West Godavari district on August 12-13.
She criticized chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for disowning all of YSR's schemes, citing financial implications. She demanded that the government implement the fee reimbursement scheme to all qualified students, and to increase the mess bills of SC/ST/BC students according to the changed rates. (INN)
