Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar today launched an e-bidding facility for people to buy fancy numbers for their vehicles, at the Khairatabad RTA.
The minister said that vehicle owners of Telangana could now get fancy numbers by bidding on them online, and that there was no need to make rounds of the RTA offices for that any more.
Efforts were also being made to enable number portability to help the govermnment get more revenue, he said.
The minister also said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao would be the brand Ambassador for the TSRTC hereon to help the corporation earn more income. He said that a new publicity campaign featuring pictures of KCR would be used for the launch of cargo services by the corporation.
"We have got 50 vehicles in the RTC ready to begin cargo services to help the body earn more income," he said.
He added that the RTC had earned Rs 16.80 crore during Sankranthi. He also said that the purchase of vehicles was down resulting a dip in revenue growth from 14% to 11%.
"We appeal to the government to allocate Rs 1,500 crore to the RTC and press 4,000 buses for the upcoming Medaram festival," he said.
He also said that the government would pay salaries to the workers who went on strike in October-November last year, by the end of March. He also asked the officials to maintain friendly relations with the staff. RTC staff could complain about any issues via the WhatsApp number 9849555778, he said.
