Porumamilla policemen on Friday arrested one person and seized a large cache of explosives from a quarry, at Mamidipalli village, Kalasapasu mandal in Kadapa district.
According to inspector S Vijay, the haul of explosives included 15 bags of ammonium nitrite weighing about 750 kilo grams, 1076 detonators, 970 gelatin sticks, 350 metre of fuse wire, and a battery.
The police had conducted the raid on the quarry after being tipped off.
Inspector Vijay identified the person arrested as one P Reddy (44), who was working in Sri Vinayaka Stone Crushers, a quarry owned by one Nageshwar Reddy, who is currently absconding.
A case has been booked against Nageshwar Reddy, under the Explosives Act, for storing explosives in the quarry without license.
When questioned, the inspector said that investigations are on to ascertain whether the explosives were stored to blast rocks to be used in the crushing unit or for some other purpose.
