Congress senior leader Ponnala Lakshmaiah today joined the BRS at a public meeting in Jangaon.
BRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao welcomed Lakshmaiah into the party by offering him a pink scarf.
Three councillors and several Congress and BJP leaders also joined the BRS along with Lakshmaiah.
Lakshmaiah had recently resigned from the Congress in protest against the "humiliation" being meted out to seniors in the party in the selection of candidates for the Assembly elections.
Speaking on the occasion, Lakshmaiah said that he had been humiliated in the Congress even though he had served the party for over 45 years without even getting any benefits.
He also praised KCR, specifically drawing attention to the comprehensive family survey being conducted within just three months of the latter becoming the Chief Minister. He also gushed about the Chief Minister's efforts to uplift the downtrodden communities in Telangana.
He said that as the Jangaon area was producing 80,000 litres of milk per day, the Chief Minister should prepare an action plan for its development.
