Former GHMC Mayor Banda Karthika Chandra Reddy on Monday demanded that the State Government issue a White Paper on the spending on the Bathukamma festival.
Speaking to media persons, Karthika Reddy said that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had spent nearly Rs 10 crores in the name of the Bathukamma festival.
She alleged that GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar was spending the funds without taking prior approval from the GHMC.
She said that instead of taking approvals from the elected body of the GHMC, the Commissioner was sanctioning the works upon oral orders.
Karthika Reddy also asked Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to explain whether his daughter and Nizamabad MP K Kavitha was the lone elected representative in the whole of Telangana.
She said that except Kavitha, no other woman representative was being invited for the Bathukamma celebrations. (INN)
