BJP MLA and former minister Etala Rajender was suspended from the Telangana Assembly today by Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy after he called the latter a robot.
Legislature Affairs Minister V Prashanth Reddy moved a resolution in the House stating that Etala had insulted the Speaker, and the Speaker then announced the suspension of the MLA from the House till the completion of the ongoing session of the House.
Earlier, Etala and some TRS MLAs engaged in a verbal war following his comments. The TRS MLAs alleged that Etala had insulted the Speaker with his comments. TRS MLA D Vinay Bhaskar urged the Speaker to suspend Etala from the House for the "insulting" remarks. Another TRS MLA Balka Suman too said that Etala did not have any right to continue in the House after his remarks.
When Etala tried to respond to the comments of the ruling party MLAs, Legislature Affairs Minister Prashanth Reddy intervened and demanded that Etala take part in the discussion only after tendering apologies. He said that Etala was trying to fight against the TRS leaders instead of taking part in the discussion.
Intervening at this juncture, Speaker Pocharam asked Etala to understand the mood of the House and behave accordingly.
Condemning the slogans of the ruling party members, Etala wondered if he had any right to speak in the House. He also did not tender any apology as sought by the treasury benches. Following this, Prashanth Reddy moved the resolution for his suspension.
