Engineering College Admission To Be Delayed Further
The Hyderabad High Court directed the constitution of a three-member committee to re-verify the 113 colleges affected by JNTU's orders, within 10 days.
The academic career of hundreds of students anxiously waiting to pursue engineering courses, especially in the fields of information technology and electronics, appeared unclear as the counselling for admissions to the engineering colleges is likely to be delayed again.
Some private engineering colleges had knocked upon the doors of the High Court following the JNTU order derecognizing them or limiting their intake of students. These colleges got a breather when a division bench of the High Court delivered its verdict today on the appeal filed by them.
While upholding the verdict of the single bench in this regard, the division bench directed the constitution of a three-member inquiry committee to re-verify these 113 colleges within 10 days and submit a report in a sealed cover.
The court also ordered JNTU to constitute 25 teams for the purpose of inspection of the colleges.
If during the course of re-verification any irregularities were found, then the recognition of the colleges should be withdrawn forthwith, the court ordered.
Thus, the already delayed counselling process for engineering admissions is likely to be delayed further. And the students and parents are now on tenterhooks as not only is the commencement of the academic year getting delayed, admissions to engineering colleges in other states are also coming to a close.
