As per the directions of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), a National Lok Adalat will be conducted across Telangana on September 13, covering all courts - from the High Court down to the Taluk-level courts.
The Lok Adalat will take up all kinds of civil and compoundable criminal cases, including both pre-litigation and pending litigation matters, for amicable settlements.
It will be organised under the guidance of the Chief Justice of the High Court (who serves as Patron-in-Chief) and the Executive Chairman of the Telangana State Legal Services Authority.
The key features of the National Lok Adalat include:
- No fees or expenses are charged for the settlement of cases - In pending cases, the court fee already paid will be refunded if the matter is settled in the Lok Adalat - No appeals can be made against the award passed in the Lok Adalat, ensuring the finality of the settlement - Proceedings will be available in both physical and virtual modes for public convenience
The public are encouraged to avail themselves of the benefits of this Lok Adalat mechanism for a quick, cost-free and amicable settlement of their disputes. Those willing to settle their pending cases or pre-litigation disputes may approach the Chairman or Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at Nyaya Seva Sadan in the District Court Complex of their respective district, or the nearest Mandal Legal Services Committee (MLSC) or court.
For more details, litigants and parties in dispute are advised to contact their local Legal Services Authority well in advance.
