Paving way for more unemployed youth and those trained in teaching to appear for residential schools teachers' exams, Chief Minster K Chandrashekar Rao directed the officials to relax the cut off percentage to 50% marks and experience for PGTs to three years.
From now, those with 50% marks in the qualifiers and those without any teaching experience would also be eligible to attend the examination. Stating that gurukul or residential schools were noted for their high standards of teaching, the Chief Minister said that relaxing norms would help more number of candidates to appear for the examinations.
He instructed the officials to prepare guidelines based on National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and court directives on such examinations and enable more number of candidates to appear for the tests.
The Chief Minister opined that those with Degree, B.Ed., and TET, or without other qualifications should be allowed to take the exam. He also reviewed the demand of conducting the examination in Telugu medium.
However, he recalled that as per NCTE norms, it wasn't possible to conduct the exam in Telugu, and advised the candidates to write the exams in English. Guidelines for conducting the examinations should be prepared based on NCTE norms and previous judgments by the courts, he said.
