EAMCET Postponed To May 22nd
The JNTU has rescheduled the EAMCET to May 22nd from May 8th, in view of the by-elections to the Pulivendula and Kadapa constituencies, scheduled on May 8th.

In view of the Election Commission's announcement that the by-elections to the Pulivendula and Kadapa constituencies will be held on May 8th, the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) on Thursday rescheduled the Engineering, Agriculture And Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) to May 22nd.
In a statement issued to the media, the EAMCET 2011 Convenor N V Ramana Rao stated that the decision to conduct the test on May 22nd was taken on Thursday, after considering the appeals to reschedule the test made by parents of the students who are appearing for EAMCET this year.
Ramana Rao said that the EAMCET applications, with a Rs. 1,000 fine, will be accepted until April 9th. The applications will be accepted between April 10th and May 5th, too, but with a fine of Rs. 5,000, and between May 6th and May 19th, with a fine of Rs. 10,000.
He said that so far, 2.78 lakh applications were received in the engineering stream, and 68,000 applications in the medical stream.
The Convenor said that the JNTU will make efforts to release the EAMCET results by the first week of June, and announce the ranks of candidates by the end of June.
Earlier, the EAMCET Committee Convenor had met Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal at the state Secretariat, and asked him to make efforts to postpone the by-elections in the Kadapa Lok Sabha and the Pulivendula Assembly constituencies as the EAMCET, too, was scheduled on May 8th.
