Secondary Education Minister K Parathasarathi announced that the state government was gearing up to issue a notification for the District Selection Committees to recruit about 40,000 people.
Talking to reporters at the state Secretariat on Tuesday, Parathasarathi said that the Secondary Education ministry proposes to hire about 40,000 people through a mega-recruitment process.
He said that about 10,000 to 12,000 posts have already been approved by the Finance Department.
Parathasarathi said that about 27,000 teachers' posts would be filled in the Secondary Education department, while the rest will be filled in the Primary Education Department.
About 6,000-7,000 additional teachers will be appointed for model schools, he said.
However, the notifications for these recruitments will be issued only after the Finance Department approves them, he said.
The minister also announced that Rs. 10 crore would be released for laboratories in government junior colleges.
He also said that the jumbling system in the Intermediate examination would continue.
Further, Parathasarathi announced that the Teachers' Eligibility Test would be compulsory for the recruitment of teachers to both government and private schools. (INN)
