The B Ed qualified candidates of DSC 2008, who were not selected in the recruitments due to implementation of 30% reservation for Secondary Grade Teacher posts, picketed the Ministers Quarters at Habsiguda in the city on Monday.
Raising slogans against the state government's indifferent attitude in addressing the problems of teacher aspirants, the candidates attempted to storm into the Ministers Quarters. When stopped by the police, they entered into heated arguments with them.
Even as the arguments between the police and the protestors were going on, some of them tried to slip into the Ministers Quarters.
However, the police foiled these attempts and used their lathis to persuade the agitators to give up their plans.
The police took a few of the activists into their custody, and shifted them to the nearby police station.
Despite repeated appeals to Education Minister S Sailajanath and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, the government was not taking any concrete action on solving their demands, they alleged.
The teacher aspirants also threatened to picket the Assembly on December 15th if the government failed to take any decision before the winter session of the Assembly concluded.
The qualified candidates stated that they would intensify their agitation until the government took a concrete decision over filling the B Ed posts under DSC 2008 lists.
