As many as 31 people have been convicted by different courts, for driving in inebriated conditions.
While the Third Metropolitan Magistrate B Chengalaraya Nayudu convicted 30 persons for a period of three days each, the Fourth Metropolitan Magistrate Siva Sankar Prasad convicted one person for a period of two days for drunken driving.
The enforcement against Drunk Driving was carried out over the last weekend, on April 26 and 27. A total of 365 cases were booked against drunk drivers.
The vehicles of all the offenders were detained. Those who were detained also attended the mandatory counselling sessions at TTI, Begumpet and Goshamahal, on Monday.
The seized vehicles include 296 two-wheelers, five 3-wheelers and 62 four-wheelers.
The respondents were produced before the III Metropolitan Magistrate Court, and fines between Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 2,100 were imposed.
From January 1 to April 27, a total 4,099 cases have been registered, and the total imprisonments so far were 296. (INN)
