18 Jailed For Drunken Driving

The enforcement against drunk driving on April 12-13 saw a total of 307 cases being booked.

The Third Metropolitan Magistrate, B Chengalaraya Nayudu, sentenced 18 persons to imprisonment for a period of three days each, for drunken driving.

The enforcement against drunk driving was carried out over April 12 and 13. A total of 307 cases were booked against offenders.

The vehicles of all the accused were detained. These accused attended mandatory counseling sessions at TTI, Begumpet and Goshamahal, on Monday.

The detained vehicles include 239 two-wheelers, 9 three-wheelers and 56 four-wheelers.

The respondents were produced before the Third Metropolitan Magistrate Court, and fines between Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 2,100 were imposed on them.

From January 1 to April 13, a total of 3,522 cases were registered. The total number of imprisonments till date are 197. (INN)
