Dinesh Kumar, a 1983 batch IAS officer who was appointed the new Chief Secretary of the Govt of Andhra Pradesh, today assumed charge at 3:33 pm in the Chief Secretary's chamber at the AP Secretariat, Velagapudi, succeeding Ajay Kallam.
After taking charge, Kumar called on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and took his "blessings".
The new CS thanked the Chief Minister for reposing faith in him and giving him an opportunity to serve the state. He promised his all-out efforts to bring to reality the vision of the Chief Minister of inclusive growth and development of the backward regions and weaker sections of the society.
Kumar also thanked his predecessor Ajay Kallam for his support, and praised his commitment and dedication to various developmental activities.
Several IAS, IPS and IFS officers, senior bureaucrats, heads of departments, employees of the secretariat, and association representatives met Kumar and congratulated him on his elevation.
Born on September 16, 1958, Dinesh Kumar joined the IAS in 1983. He had worked in united AP and held key positions like District Collector of Anantapur and Adilabad, Additional Commissioner of Revenue, Social Welfare Commissioner, Joint Managing Director of APTRANSCO, Secretary Irrigation, APCPDCL Chairman & Managing Director, Commissioner Disaster Management, Principal Secretary Energy, Principal Secretary Finance, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and so on.
He later served in the Central Services in the rank of Joint Secretary, as Additional Secretary in the textiles and water resources development departments, and as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Polavaram Authority.
Prior to assuming charge as Chief Secretary, he was working as Special Chief Secretary, Panchayat Raj & Rural Development.
