After the landslide victory of the NDA alliance in Andhra Pradesh, major developments are taking place in the State.
Several leaders of the YSR Congress Party holding government posts are resigning. Simultaneously, changes in officialdon are also taking place.
Neerabh Kumar Prasad, a 1987-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of AP. The AP government has issued an order to this effect. Prasad has less than a month of service left (he retires on June 30), but the government is expected to seek an extension for him from the Centre.
Prasad, the senior-most IAS officer in AP, has so far served as Special Chief Secretary for departments like forest, environment and science. This is a major bump-up for him.
The present CS Jawahar Reddy has been transferred by the government without any posting. The TDP had raised many complaints against him when it was in the opposition, and so this development was hardly surprising to anyone.
Other officers who have faced many allegations are also being transferred by the State government. The new CS has directed the three prominent IAS officers in former CM Jagan's camp to report to the GAD: Jagan's Special Chief Secretary Poonam Malakondaiah, secretary Revu Muthyalaraju and additional secretary Bharath Gupta.
