Digvijay Pats AP Congress, Asks TPCC To Emulate
AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh said Congress leaders were working courageously in Andhra Pradesh despite the party's utter defeat in the state in 2014.
AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh said the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee was taking up movements for the sake of the people though it was weak in the state, but the Telangana Congress leaders were not up to the mark.
He stressed the need for more movements by the Telangana Congress on behalf of the people against the government, since the former was the main Opposition party in Telangana.
Participating as the chief guest in late Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao's 94th birth anniversary celebrations, Singh said the upcoming elections to the Greater Hyderabad, Warangal and Khammam municipal corporations in Telangana were crucial for the Congress, and that there was a need for the leaders and workers to work in tandem.
He said the TPCC also needed to work in coordination with the other political parties on the delimitation of wards in Hyderabad.
He also alleged that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu were indulging in fights on trivial issues and provoking the people. The PCCs of the two states needed to fight against the Chief Ministers of the respective states to strengthen the Congress, he said.
Stating that the bifurcation of the state was not a small issue, Singh said that there was no alternative for the Congress other than bifurcation as all the political parties had agreed for the division of Andhra Pradesh. He said that the party's leaders were working courageously in Andhra Pradesh though the party had faced utter defeat in that state in 2014.
He suggested that the party continue to field its candidates in Andhra Pradesh, irrespective of victory or defeat. (NSS)
