Veteran Congress leader and Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today said that he would resign from his post if the Telangana government solved all the problems being faced by the people of his constituency and improved the roads in the region.
Speaking at a party meeting in Choutuppal, he declared that he would even write a bond stating that he would not contest in the next Assembly election, all for the "sake of the development" of his constituency.
The leader then alleged that the TRS regime had been neglecting the people of the state. He added that it owed contractors dues of about Rs 1,350 crore and that some contractors had committed suicides due to the non-payment of the same.
Reddy also claimed that nobody was willing to take up public works projects due to this lackadaisical attitude of the state government and its failure to make prompt payments.
Further, he added that the revitalisation of the Musi had come to a standstill, and that he would surely raise the issue in Parliament.
Targeting Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the MP mockingly stated, "Even the infamous German dictator Adolf Hitler would be moved to tears after seeing the CM's feudal rule and his oppressive ways. Following in the CM's footsteps, government officials too do not feel the need to treat the leaders of the Opposition with any degree of respect. On top of all this, in KCR's Telangana, there is no place for Dalits in the state Cabinet. The CM only knows how to cheat the SC community. Currently, he is doing so using the Dalit Bandhu scheme."
Reddy also took the opportunity to clarify once again that he did not have any differences with TPCC chief and fellow Congressman A Revanth Reddy, and claimed that he had told the latter that the two of them would work together to strengthen the Congress.
The Bhongir MP is not the only Congress leader to have called out the KCR regime for its "anti-Dalit" ways. In fact, the entire party is currently making preparations for the upcoming Dalit Girijana Dandora public meeting which is to be held in Adilabad's Indravelli area on Monday (August 9).
Speaking to the media about the program, MP Revanth Reddy stated that the main objective behind it was to expose the failure of the TRS regime to fulfil its electoral promises to the SCs and STs in the state, and to highlight the "injustice" that had been meted out to the two communities in the last seven years of TRS rule. He said that the program, scheduled to conclude on September 17, would begin with a public meeting at 3:00 pm on Monday, and urged the party's leaders and workers to make it a grand success.
The leader also revealed that AICC leader Rahul Gandhi would attend the program in the first week of September.
Meanwhile, MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy said that he would not able to attend the public meeting due to ill health. He told the media that he had been suffering from fever for the last one week and was, therefore, not in any position to attend the meeting.
Jagga Reddy then asked the press to refrain from jumping to any conclusions about his absence. The leader said that he had already conveyed his inability to attend the program to state AICC in-charge Manickam Tagore and the TPCC head as well.
