Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka today travelled like a regular passenger in a TSRTC bus in Khammam district.
He boarded the bus at the Khammam old bus station and got off at Jagannadhapuram village on the way to Bonakal town in the district.
On the occasion, the Deputy CM interacted with the passengers in the bus and inquired about their experiences after the implementation of free bus travel facility for women. He also asked the bus conductor, Shailaja, about the zero tickets being issued to women.
Vikramarka said that he undertook the field trip to find out how better facilities could be offered to women on the RTC buses.
He claimed that the women who were using the free bus facility were expressing happiness, and that the corporation was being strengthened by the implementation of the free travel for women scheme in the State.
"The State government has already purchased more than 300 new buses to provide more services to the people, and with the introduction of more buses, the public transport facility can be extended to remote areas in the State," the Deputy CM said.
Khammam District Collector V P Gautham, Wyra MLA Ramdas Naik, senior officials and other elected representatives were present.
