Chairman of the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TPJAC) Prof. M Kodandaram has announced the formation of a Delhi JAC for Telangana, comprising the teaching faculty of Jawaharlal Nehru University and the University of Delhi, and the advocates and businessmen from Telangana who have settled in Delhi.
The formation of the Delhi JAC, which took place yesterday, has its roots in Kondandaram's belief that the issue of Telangana statehood cannot move further unless the cause is fought for in New Delhi.
Also, he said that the Telangana JAC would conduct protests in New Delhi, demanding that the Central Government ban the contentious GO 177, and that Chapter 8 of the Srikrishna Committee Report be revealed.
For newbies, GO 177 is a state government order that was formulated over a week ago in the wake of the recent Telangana pen-down strike, stating that employees who do not work or who protest in office premises will be punished.
The Srikrishna Committee Report is a voluminous document that provides detailed analyses of various aspects of, and issues plaguing, Telangana. The 8th chapter of the report was submitted separately in a sealed envelope, and the contents of this particular chapter have not been revealed to the public.
