Declare Public Holiday On Sep 17: TRLD

The state must officially celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17 on the lines of Maharashtra and Karnataka, says the TRLD.

Telangana Rashtriya Lok Dal president and MLC Dilip Kumar on Saturday demanded that the state government officially celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17 on the lines of Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Talking to reporters at the Assembly media point, Dilip Kumar said that September 17 should e declared a public holiday. He said that the governments of Maharashtra and Kartanaka have been celebrating their own such corresponding occasions on grand scales, for a long time.

He added that the event should be celebrated on par with Independence Day.

Dilip Kumar also said that he had handed over to the AK Antony Committee a note regarding the backwardness of the Telangana region. He expressed hope that a Telangana state would soon be a reality. (INN)
