Hyderabad | 28th November 2022
The State police today arrested Nalgonda DCC president Sankar Naik at the Yadadri Power Plant located in Veerlapalem village of Damaracharla mandal of Nalgonda district.

Congress activists were holding a protest program ahead of the visit of CM K Chandrashekar Rao to the plant, under the leadership of the DCC president. They demanded that the State government pay compensation to those who had lost their lands for the construction of the power plant, as also provide jobs to the local unemployed youth.

The police present at the plant arrested the Congress activists along with the DCC president, and took them to a police station.

TPCC chief Revanth Reddy condemned the arrests, and asked why the police had arrested the Congress workers just ahead of the visit of the CM to the power plant. He said that it was the responsibility of the Congress to highlight the problems of the land oustees ahead of the CM's visit, and termed the arrests as illegal and undemocratic.
