BJP senior leader and Secunderabad MP Bandaru Dattatreya on Saturday assured that he would make representations to the Central government to get adequate funds to make the railways network safer for the people of Telangana.
Speaking to media persons after visiting the injured children at Yashoda Hospital, Dattatreya asked the South Central Railway authorities to prepare estimates for the elimination of Unmanned Railway Level Crossings in its region.
He said there were 614 URLCs which should be removed. He said he would represent the issue to the Central leadership to get the required funds.
Dattareyya also asked the State government to take measures to make school buses safer for children. He said all school bus drivers should be sensitised on making the journeys safer.
He advised both the State government and the South Central Railway authorities not to resort to a blame game. He also assured that the Centre would increase the ex-gratia amount, and that the Rs 2 lakh amount was only an interim grant.
