Former minister Damodar Reddy on Monday demanded that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy release a 'white paper' on alleged land dealings in the state as lands worth crores of rupees were allotted to influential people in Telangana region.
Talking to media persons at CLP Office, the former minister hailed the Chief Minister's statement on worth of lands in Telangana and Rayalaseema during his visit to Tandur on Sunday.
The Chief Minister's admission that the Rayalaseema region was backward was hailed as 'courageous' by Damodar Reddy. He said that the Chief Minister was candid enough to admit the immense disparity between the value of land in Telangana and Rayalaseema.
Kiran Reddy had on Sunday said that while the land value in Telangana was around Rs. 2 crore an acre, it remained around Rs. 2 lakh per acre in Rayalaseema.
Referring to this statement, Damodar Reddy said that K iran Reddy's words should be a pointer to the losses occurred due to the dubious land dealings between the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation(APIIC) and Emaar Properties.
The former minister demanded that the government release a white paper on alleged allotment of lands to Emaar Properties as lands worth crores of rupees had changed hands in the secret deals.
He urged government to do justice to those farmers whose lands had been acquired by the APIIC for its projects.
Damodar Reddy also revealed that after the completion of Parliament session on December 8th, Telangana Congress leaders would organize a martyrs meeting in Rangareddy district to disburse financial assistance to the next of kin of those who had died for the cause of Telangana statehood.
He said the Telangana leaders would work for capturing 41 Lok Sabha seats for the Congress if the Justice B N Srikrishna Commission report was favourable to Telangana peoples' aspirations. He warned of serious consequences if the report was adverse.
Expressing confidence in the leadership of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Damodar Reddy appealed to Telangana ministers to make efforts for unconditional lifting of police cases against students and others who took part in statehood agitation.
