Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas on Wednesday said it is just a matter of time before Telangana Rashtra Samithi president KCR is relegated to a footnote in the state's political history.
Addressing the people of Nizamabad Urban assembly constituency, Srinivas said that if he is elected to the assembly in the upcoming by-elections, then the TRS chief's "shop" will be shut for good.
Pointing out that KCR is using religion and caste in an attempt to attract voters, Srinivas said that the TRS chief has been censured by the Election Commission for violating the model code of conduct.
The PCC president said that these attempts are bound to fail since the people of Telangana have seen through the TRS chief.
Srinivas further said that the entire TRS political machinery is working overtime to see that he is defeated. He said that the TRS realizes that if he wins, then it will lose face among the people of Telangana.
He added that the Congress is the only party with the wherewithal to make the dream of a separate Telangana state a reality.
The PCC chief also questioned how the TRS can claim that it had made any sacrifices for the sake of Telangana when its members kept resigning time and again over the issue. He said that Congress leaders were the only people who have made sacrifices since they have been inconvenienced by the repeated resignations because of having elections thrust on them.
