Pay Deceased Covid-19 Patients' Bills: NSUI To KCR
The Telangana unit of the NSUI today demanded that CM K Chandrashekar Rao pay the bills of all the Covid-19 patients who had died while being treated.
Hyderabad | 26th April 2021
The Telangana unit of the NSUI, the student wing of the Congress, today demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao pay the bills of all those Covid-19 patients who had died while undergoing treatment at the private hospitals of the state.
The activists of the organisation began a fast unto death program at Hyderabad's Indira Park. Congress MLA from the Mulugu constituency Seethakka and state NSUI President Balmuri Venkat also took part in the agitation.
Venkat published a tweet explaining the reason for the hunger strike. It reads, "We started our hunger strike for the safeguard of our public to protect them from the irresponsible governments, both at Centre & State, without any prior notice. We are committed to our cause & fight till our demands met (sic)."
The MLA and the other protestors stayed put at the park despite the soaring heat even though the police did not give them permission to put up any tents at the venue.
In fact, the activists came up with quite an innovative solution to battle the sun - they turned the NSUI flags into a tent to provide shade to those present at the park.
The number of Covid-19 related fatalities in the state has become a source of major concern to the public and the TRS regime alike. Just yesterday, 43 more deaths were reported.
