Cyclone Laila hit Andhra Pradesh's coast at Bapatla on Thursday evening, prior to which the state was already being severely battered by incessant rainfall. While the whole of AP's coastline was being affected, the southern coastline was more hit, and the worst-hit district was Prakasam.
Evacuated people were already sent to shelters and school buildings. Roads were inundated and electric poles and structures came crashing down all over the rainfall-hit areas. Many parts of the state saw the shut-down of power and transportation facilities. Moreover, several crops have been affected thanks to the rough weather.
Flights in AP have already been put on hold, and several trains and buses have been cancelled.
