The Cyberabad Traffic Police has decided to enforce the rule warranting compulsory wearing of helmets, for all the bike riders in its limits.
According to ACP (Traffic) L B Nagar M Sridhar Reddy, the Cyberabad police would educate the people about the importance of wearing helmets, and would book cases as per the Motor Vehicle Act against the violators.
The helmet rule would be enforced as part of the road safety week which began on Tuesday.
"This road safety week, from 6th to 12th January, is aimed at ensuring that there are no road traffic accidents in the limits of Cyberabad, and this is an appropriate time for us to remind the public about the importance of safety helmets. Helmets save lives and reduce the risk of brain injury, and the nation's emergency physicians also demand helmets being made compulsory," Reddy said. (INN)
