The CPI demanded that the state government take up metro works in the Old City, failing which they would intensify their protest movement, they said.

CPI national secretary Dr K Narayana today asked if MIM supremo and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi was the Chief Minister of the Old city, seeing as to how the TRS was bowing to the diktats of the MIM in the Old City.
Speaking to the media after traveling on the Metro from Tarnaka to Ameerpet along with party leaders Palla Venkat Reddy, E T Narasimha and others, Narayana warned the state government that the CPI would not keep quiet if the Old City was neglected, especially since it comprised half the population of the state capital.
He said that while the Metro was up and running in the rest of the city, it was surprising that works had not even been launched in the Old City so far. He warned the state government to take heed and start Metro works in the Old City, failing which the party would be forced to intensify its protest.
Another irate CPI leader asked why the Old City was being treated like it was a separate country altogether and not a part of the state. He alleged that the KCR government was showing bias against the Old City and keeping the Metro project for the area in cold storage at the insistence of the MIM supremo.
Leaders M Narasimha, Mohammed Saleem Khan, Rakesh Singh, Veeresham and Chandra Moha, and AIYF City vice-president G Harinath Goud were also present at the occasion.
