CPI Leader Ganesh Elected Kothagudem Mayor
CPI leader Mood Ganesh was elected the Mayor of the Kothagudem Municipal Corporation, and Lalitha Kumari of the Congress was elected the Deputy Mayor.

CPI leader Mood Ganesh was elected as the Mayor of the Kothagudem Municipal Corporation today, and Lalitha Kumari of the Congress was elected as the Deputy Mayor.
The contest for the Mayor's post continued until Sunday, generating considerable political excitement. After prolonged discussions between the Congress and the CPI, the parties agreed to share the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor for two-and-a-half years each.
As per the agreement, Ganesh of the CPI was elected as the first Mayor.
The Congress alliance secured 23 (Congress - 22, CPI - 1) divisions in the elections. The BRS won eight, the BJP won one, and independent candidates won six divisions.
