Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary K Narayana on Sunday demanded that the state government order a probe into the allegations leveled by former minister and staunch Y S Jaganmohan Reddy supporter Konda Surekha against Congress MP KVP Ramachandra Rao, a close aide and advisor of former chief minister, the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Talking to media persons on Sunday, the Left leader appealed to government to order a high-level probe into the allegations of corruption and brokerage leveled by Surekha against KVP Ramachandra Rao.
The veteran Communist leader said that the mere fact that Konda Surekha was leveling allegations against KVP, whose family had close relations with the YSR family for decades, was evidence enough that KVP had indulged in irregularities in awarding irrigation contracts to his close aides.
Narayana urged the government to investigate the allegations by appointing a high level inquiry team.
The Left leader also said that the allegations had raised the scepter of doubt that the centre also had a share in the dubious deals which had taken place in the state.
Narayana revealed that the CPI would launch a state-wide agitation against corruption as a sideling to the 85th anniversary of the party, which was scheduled to be held from December 20th to December 26th.
He also blamed Congress leader Devineni Nehru for encouraging murder politics in Krishna district.
"The people of Krishna district know who is behind the murder politics," he stated. The Left leader dared Devineni Nehru to conduct a referendum on the issue in the district.
Turning to the issue of farmers reeling under heavy rains, the veteran Communist leader accused the state government for its abject failure to address the farmers' problems in rain-affected districts.
