The Left parties on Wednesday called off the four-day long indefinite hunger strike launched to protest against the hike in power tariff.
The decision was taken after the leaders of seven Left Parties, including CPI and CPI (M) state secretaries K Narayana and B V Raghuvulu, respectively, were taken into custody by the police and shifted to Gandhi Hospital.
They had gone on an indefinite hunger strike demanding a withdrawal of the hike in power tariff and the fuel surcharge adjustment.
The leaders broke their fast following an assurance from the state government that the hike in power tariff would be reconsidered.
Meanwhile, Raghavulu praised a TDP MLA for launching a fast in protest against the power tariff hike issue at the Old MLA Quarters. (INN)
