The Left parties, along with some "democratic" organizations, will take out a huge rally from Charminar to the Exhibition Grounds on December 19 in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act passed by the NDA government at the Centre.
CPM State Secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram announced this after a meeting with other members of Left parties at the CPI State office.
RSP, CPI (ML), New Democracy and Forward Bloc leaders attended the meeting.
Veerabhadram said that the rally would be taken out symbolically from the Old City. The CAA was an insult to Muslims and deprived them of their rights, and the Narendra Modi government was against the Muslims and was violating the Constitution to belittle them, he claimed.
Though several States, including Assam and West Bengal, and many universities were boiling over the issue, the Centre was yet to take corrective steps, he added. He demanded that the Modi regime rescind the CAA to protect the Muslims' interests.
He said that the Left parties' activists and leaders would join protests against the CAA all over the State.
The Left parties also supported the January 8 protests planned by workers, farm labourer and farmers across the country, he added.
