The ongoing lockdown imposed due to the coronavirus in Telangana is likely to have its impact on the academic calendar of the intermediate colleges of the state.
According to officials of the Board of Intermediate Education, the colleges are likely to reopen either in the last week of July or the first week of August, 2020.
Although no final decision has been taken on the issue, the officials of the board are saying that the upcoming academic year will be shorter than usual.
They are also saying that they would have to cancel holidays on second Saturdays.
The virus has had plenty of impact already on pre-university education in the state. The officials have not yet declared the intermediate results. And the crucial tenth class examinations have also not been completed in the state so far. Even if the department resumes its functioning by the end of the month, it will take almost two months for it to complete all the activities of the last academic year, including the declaration of the intermediate results.
