PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana, on Monday, stated that the Congress has always strengthened the local bodies in the state.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Botsa dismissed allegations leveled by opposition parties that the Congress government had deliberately delayed the local body elections fearing defeat. He said that the elections were delayed due to different court cases, and that the government was not involved in the relevant decisions.
Botas said that people are behind the ruling party, and that this was the reason why as many as 1,040 candidates affiliated to the Congress were unanimously elected to Sarpanch posts.
He said that TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu's padayatra had failed to impress the crowds, and that the YSR Congress party, too, did not make an impact in the polls.
He said that he hopes that the Congress would strengthen its base across the state in the local body elections. (INN)
