Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana, on Wednesday, claimed that the Congress party has won over 2,700 seats in the first phase of the Panchayat elections.
Talking to reporters, Botsa thanked the people for voting in favour of the Congress party, and attributed the victory to the successful implementation of welfare schemes by the state and central Governments.
Stating that the Congress would return to power after the next general elections in 2014, he said that the Panchayat polls have shattered the electoral dreams of both the TDP and the YSRCP.
Speaking about Telangana, Botsa said that the Telangana issue was not related to Panchayat elections and that its resolution was to be decided by the Centre and not by the state. Reiterating that he was in favour of a united Andhra Pradesh, he said that he would still abide by the decision that will be taken by the Congress High Command. (INN)
