BRS working president K T Rama Rao today alleged that the Telangana Congress had used the Valmiki scam money in the recent Lok Sabha elections, and that what the BRS had been saying from the beginning had now turned out to be true.
He demanded that the Congress leaders be punished for using the money meant for the welfare of tribals, for election campaigning.
KTR said the Enforcement Directorate (ED), in its chargesheet, had confirmed that Congress leader and former Karnataka minister B Nagendra was the key conspirator in the Valmiki scam.
"Rs 187 crore of Karnataka Maharishi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation Limited (KSDDC) was diverted by the Congress minister," the BRS leader alleged, and claimed that the money was used by the Telangana Congress for funding the Lok Sabha elections.
He said that Satyanarayana Varma, the main accused in the Valmiki scam, was a Hyderabad-based builder, and was very close to two key Congress leaders from Telangana.
"It is being said that Congress leaders here too are partners in his business. It is undeniable that there are many more Congress leaders involved. The investigating agencies should find out the truth about the Valmiki scam," he said, and appealed to the authorities to punish the culprits severely.
