Stating that any movie with the backdrop of the Razakars would instigate communal tensions and hatred among the people, TPCC senior vice-president G Niranjan today urged the renowned film writer and Rajya Sabha member V Vijayendra Prasad not to write any story or script for a film on the Razakars.
He said that though Prasad would want to make such a movie with good intentions, the BJP and the MIM would try to create enmity among the people using it.
"Though Vijayendra Prasad explained that the theme of the film on the Razakars would be along the lines of that of his earlier film Bajrangi Bhaijaan, that wouldn't sit well with the prevailing situation in the State. It would be just playing with fire, and end up instigating tensions and hatred," he opined. "It would be best to confine some parts of history just for the purposes of study. Any attempts to showcase it on film and screen it for the masses will result in bad repercussions and things going out of control."
"We should remember that Karnataka and Maharashtra are celebrating September 17 as Hyderabad Merger Day officially, whereas we are unable to do the same officially in Telangana. The State government should wake up at this initial stage itself and take steps to ban the making of any film based on the Razakars in the larger interests of the State and to maintain communal harmony," he added.
