It is being reported that the All India Congress Committee (AICC) is planning to drop Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender as the Congress candidate for the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency seat.
The Congress has already announced Nagender's name as its candidate for the seat. However, sources said that the party leadership is reconsidering its decision and planning to announce another candidate.
Petitions have been filed in the High Court against his election, and the court has already issued notices to him. The AICC therefore reportedly asked Nagender to resign from the MLA seat, but he is not acquiescing at this juncture. Sources said that the party leadership is dissatisfied with his behaviour.
It is reported that the AICC is therefore planning to field another candidate in his place.
The name of former GHMC mayor Bonthu Rammohan has came to the fore as a replacement. There is a possibility that there will be clarity on who the Congress candidate will be for the seat in a day or two.
