Action Against Cong Rebel MLAs
The process for disqualifying the 4 Congress MLAs who support Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has formally begun, and the MLAs have been issued notices by Secretary S Raja.
The process for disqualification of the 4 Congress MLAs who support the YSR Congress Party President formally began on Saturday, with the issuing of notices to them by the State Legislature Secretary S Raja Sadaram on the orders of Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar.
Sadaram issued notices to the 4 MLAs - Adinarayana Reddy (Jammalamadugu), Amarnath Reddy (Rajampet), Srikanth Reddy (Rayachoti) and Konda Surekha (Parkal) - seeking their explanation about why they should not be disqualified from the State Legislative Assembly for indulging in anti-Congress activities. The MLAs have been given a week's time to submit their replies.
Earlier, Chief Whip Bhatti Vikramarka and Whip Kondra Murali had formally requested the Deputy Speaker to disqualify the MLAs under the Anti-Defection Law.
PCC Secretary Anand Bhaskar had on Thursday issued notices to the 4 MLAs on behalf of PCC President D Srinivas.
The PCC will initiate action on the MLAs based on their (MLAs') responses.
The legislators have been violating the party's rules and regulations by participating in YSR Congress Party President Jagan's Kadapa by-election campaign, and in turn, affecting the chances of official candidates D L Ravindra Reddy and Y S Vivekananda Reddy.
This issue has been pending for the last 4 months. Earlier, PCC chief D Srinivas and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had talked about issuing notices to the legislators for indulging in anti-party activities. (INN)
