BRS MLC Sravan Dasoju today sharply criticised the Congress government over GO Ms No 46, calling it an administrative disaster, a constitutional violation, and a deliberate attempt to mislead BCs, SCs and STs, and postpone local body elections.
Calling the GO a classic example of hypocrisy and manipulation, Sravan said that the government used two different population sources in the same reservation exercise - the SEEEPC 2024 survey for ward members and the 2011 census for sarpanches. "Is this governance or a bad joke?" he asked, and accused the government of tampering with the rights of marginalised communities.
Quoting Article 243-D, the BRS leader said that reservations needed to be based on the latest published census, and questioned the legal sanctity of using the SEEEPC data. He alleged that the GO was designed to either distort reservation percentages or delay the local body elections.
He also demanded transparency regarding the "Dedicated Commission" referenced in the GO. "Which commission? Who headed it? What data did it examine? Where is the report?" he asked, calling the process a conspiracy by the Revanth Reddy administration.
Sravan also asked why the Panchayat Raj Department, instead of the BC Welfare Department, issued the GO. "This shows total procedural collapse. Nothing is transparent. Nothing is constitutional," he said.
Calling GO 46 a trap to cheat the BCs, he demanded that the government clarify the data sources, publish the commission's report, restore the legality of reservation and conduct elections on time.
"Telangana did not fight for statehood to endure this level of fraudulent governance," he said.
