Congress Rally Against Shifting Of Secretariat
The Telangana Congress will take out a massive rally from Gandhi Bhavan to Raj Bhavan February 8 to protest the government's decision to shift the Secretariat.
The Telangana Congress will take out a massive rally from Gandhi Bhavan to Raj Bhavan on Saturday in protest against the state government's decision to shift the Secretariat to Erragadda.
Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee president Danam Nagender alleged that KCR was trying to execute a hidden agenda on behalf of the real estate mafia by shifting the Secretariat to Erragadda.
He said that the government had taken a wrong decision by deciding to shift the Chest Hospital from Erragadda to Vikarabad to accommodate the new Secretariat building.
He vowed that the Congress party would expose the entire game plan hatched by KCR and some ministers in his cabinet.
He said that the Congress would intensify the protest if the state government failed to withdraw its decision, and demanded that the proposal be first debated in the state legislature.
Danam claimed that it was AICC President Sonia Gandhi who granted statehood to Telangana. However, instead of being thankful to the Congress party and Sonia Gandhi, KCR had started misusing the post of Chief Minister.
The former minister accused the state government of being negligent in handling the swine flu cases. He said there were no experts to treat the swine flu cases in either the Osmania General Hospital or the Gandhi Hospital. Further, the government had failed to set up swine flu screening centres at the airport, the railway stations and the bus stands.
Danam also expressed confidence that the Congress would win the next GHMC elections. He said students, pensioners, minorities and other sections of the society were unhappy with the policies and performance of the TRS government.
Earlier, TPCC President Ponnala Lakshmaiah held a meeting to review the arrangements for the proposed rally. Besides by Danam, the meeting was attended by former MP M Anjan Kumar Yadav, former MLA Marri Sashidhar Reddy, MLC M S Prabhakar, former GHMC Mayor Banda Karthika Chandra Reddy and former minister D Sridhar Babu.
